BBC News and ITV News both cover a suspected arson attack on a mosque in Bletchley, Milton Keynes. The mosque, built on the site of a former pub, has been targeted in a series of attacks including a pig’s head being thrown on the premises in July 2011.
In the latest incident, a fire was lit at the back of the mosque at around 1am on Saturday morning.
BBC News reports that Richard Bevington, 30, has been charged with ‘”racially and religiously aggravated section five public order offence”, possession of cocaine and possession of cannabis.’
He will appear before Milton Keynes’ Magistrates court on Monday.
There have been a number of attacks on mosques in Milton Keynes, including two that were targeted in the aftermath of Drummer Lee Rigby’s murder last year, as well as an incident of stone-throwing at the Jamee Mosque in Bletchley last July, for which a man was charged with a racially aggravated public order offence.
