SUMMARY:MEND’s Journalists Christmas Lunch
DESCRIPTION:Muslim communities\, as well as other minorities\, have been demonised by some of the print media. Statistics show that for every positive reference to Muslims in the print media\, there are 21 negative references. This negative portrayal of Muslims led to an alarming increase in Islamophobic hate crimes to which the target is mostly Muslim women. \nMuslim Engagement & Development (MEND) in collaboration with ITV Wales and the National Union of Journalists (NUJ) would like to invite you for journalists’ Christmas lunch to discuss what can local journalists and local communities do collectively to tackle hate and divisive rhetoric in the media. \nThe event will be not only an opportunity to have discussions but also an opportunity to network with the local communities’ leaders to promote ethical journalism and commend positive coverage. \n  \nWe would be delighted if you could join us at Culture and Media Centre (CMC). \nAddress: Plas Iona\, Loudoun Square\, Butetown\, Cardiff\, CF10 5HW \nFriday 14th December (12 pm to 4.30 pm).
